Art For Justice Portraits
This project started with George Floyd’s death. I was filled with so much rage and despair over his murder that I felt compelled to do something. Yes I’m an old white woman, but I care. One thing I can do is paint – so I’m painting! Black victims of society or the police, heroes like John Lewis and RBG who are no longer with us — people who in my opinion should be remembered. And people who are making their mark in helping to change the present insanity, like Stacey Abrams and Rev. Warnock. There is something special in my opinion about honoring someone in a painting.
Anyway, I’m hopeful that we can start shifting as a society and realize that black lives matter — and create a country that honors us all – no matter what our skin color, religion, economic class, whatever!!
I have posted these paintings on Pixels.com. http://www.pixels.com/robinwellner If you’d like a print, t-shirt or another option of one of these paintings, you may order on this site. 50% of all profits will go to the Southern Poverty Law Center https://www.splcenter.org. If you have ideas about someone who I should paint and add to this collection, please let me know. Thank you!!!
